Filming Update 05-25-08

Me oh my oh my, what a day, what a day!!! So weekends are back to normal again finally and Mr. Mcmanus and myself get to get back to our land travelin' ways. So, around 11:30 Adam Mcmanus, Tim Taylor, Tyler Wade, and myself all head out for Boone.
After a quick detour and a horrendous traffic jam, due to some wire laying, we get to Thomas Martin's house at about 2:30-3:00pm. and after a short wait for the Charlotte guys (Kenny Owens, Phil Gripper, Montre Livingston) we arrive at the first spot around about 5pm. This first spot was a small three stair with a little brick ledge that went off the stairs to a landing and then a low mellow stair rail that got destroyed. Pretty much everyone came through with really solid lines but I have to say the most notable had to be Tim's fakie 180 up the ledge to 360 to flat then tru mizou down the rail laced clean and stylish. Here are a couple screens:

Thomas Martin with an A/O Mizou cab out:
Phil Gripper with a Half Cab Topacid out of his line:
Joe Matty with the Front Savannah:
Tim also decided to bring back the X-grind:
Adam with the 360 in the beginning of his line:
Montre with an steezed out A/O Topsoul

At the first spot there was also this pretty steep like copening wooden rail with no landing that got sessioned...check it out!
Thomas with a sweaty (that I count):
Montre laced this A/O soul:
And Phil landed this lengthy Back Backslide:

The second spot was located under a bridge and had pretty decent ledges to skate, however, Adam had been telling Tim all day that there was a bank there he should drop in. The bank isn't exactly user friendly, in fact, its extremely intimidating but Tim taylor came through again with a HAMMER and this really is the clip of the second spot:
...yes he did...

After this spot, we pretty much went to the Boone Skatepark to end the day out. And I must say Boone has a plethora of rollerbladers. They probably have more people skate in their tiny park than we do in all of greenville, and considered how big boone is, that's impressive.
After we were all skated out, we hit up Dos Amigos for a burrito/some good times with new and old friends and then called it a night and headed on our way back home. It was such a fun time with a bunch of really good rollerbladers and some really awesome friends, so thank you to all who came out, and let's skate next weekend!!

Steady Now...

Sometimes I see and hear things that mess me up.
To elaborate, sometimes people make things that make me feel such a way that I can't create anything without being able to replicate something of the similar sort, basically, I like this thing so much that I hit a creative road block until I feel like I've successfully created something that gives me the same feeling as what that person created. And its not a jealous or envious type feeling, its more of an encouraging and exciting feeling.
In this particular instance, it happened to be an edit by one Morgan Jones for the 06 Colorado Mixtape (below):

There is so much about it that I like, the song, the editing, the flow, etc. But the biggest thing I like about it is that it seems to be more focused on skating and the the skater. Its not tailored to a specific style or name, it simply embodies that which we do, and I like that so that was the biggest point I was trying to get across Thus, in hopes of moving on from my creative slump, I made this. It's completely different from Mr. Morgan's but for some reason gives me a sense of completion that I was looking for.
So I guess the whole reason behind posting Morgan's video was to show you what excatly inspired this little short.
I really don't know if its even good, in fact, I'm only moderately pleased with the outcome, but none-the-less, here it is.

Adam Mcmanus Chimera Wheel Edit

Adam Chimera Edit Good
So, its 4:33 am and I just heard the wonderful chime of this edit finishing rendering, awesome.

Sorry all for taking so long to update, to be completely honest I just haven't filmed that much in the past two weeks. I've had crazy work schedules and life has just taken over! But this coming weekend, things will be right back to normal.

So, through the craziness, I did have time to shoot and chop this short little Chimera wheel edit with Adam. Benny Harmanus was a nice dude and sent Adam some wheels to roll on and what better way to thank him than skate them and make an edit!! And since there is an edit, I'm going to forgo the screen shots and just leave you with the video! Enjoy!

Let's skate this weekend.

Filming Update 04-03-07

Soooo. The day starts off with a quick session with some friendly faces at Ximeno. After a short but fulfilling session there Tim Taylor and I head back to the house to grab a drink/review some footy. It was then that tim informed me of this trick he wanted to do at this spot I'd never been to, so with my interest peeked, we leave.

We get there and its the perfect obstacle for Tim and his skating, challenging and creative. And as always Tim came through with two solid clips and this particular spot.
Its like this high jump to a roll, gap to electric box and then gap back to the street. And it works so well with Tim's skating because there is so much involved in the trick that it takes it a minute but it makes it extremely interesting to watch. Here's the Screen:

Tim Hop to roll to makio to roll to Gap...yes

Also Tim laced the soul on the electric box in a line beginning with this pretty large jump off of this sign

So with a short park session and two solid clips under his belt we decide to call it a session and wrap up. I wanted to go scope out this rail to ledge combo in the same area so we trekked up a little bit to check it out. When we got there, Tim immediately saw this roll to drop he'd been wanting to do, so he did:
Tim drop to 360 to the street

After the clip was made, we packed up and headed back to the park to end the day, and called it a night.
****
Sunday also involved alittle park skating at the ol' Innman skatepark. It wasn't anything big, just a chill session with all the bros. Johnny Ray was kind enough to film a couple of the festivities and here's what I tossed together.

So all in all, its been a productive/fun weekend.

And I hate to be a spoiler but you might want to look out for a new Adam Mcmanus edit coming up in the next couple of weeks, I think he has some wheels he wants to talk about...stay tuned.
